Inside The Box
"Would I be getting a present today?" - Not an unreasonable request from someone who is dear and near to you on Boxing Day. "It would be nice if I could have a branded scarf." - A rather modest request too. "How come I have to be reminded?" - I accused myself.
While it is not one day that enables one to lead a happy life, the desire for something and having it is a pleasurable relief. While some prefer tangible gifts, others prefer enjoyable experience. To meet instinctive drive and to relieve the tension is paramount.
Giving gifts is a social action and a universal cultural phenomenon. The value of the gifts also reflects the relationship between the giver and the receiver. While we need not give gifts frequently, doing the right thing to the right person at the right time cannot be wrong.
