A Few Dollars More

When it comes to food and drinks, I am not choosy. Whenever I travel, I would not mind sampling the food and drinks there. When I first visited Okinawa, I learned about Ishigaki beef and tried.


lshigaki is an island in the deep south of Okinawa, with plenty of fresh air and sunshine. When I was in Ishigaki, I drove past a number of farm houses, probably the suppliers of Ishigaki beef. When I saw a roadside cafe advertising Ishigaki beef, I thought I should try again.


From the menu, I picked an ishigaki beef lunch set. It was prized at 1600 yen or just a few dollars more than any ordinary lunch set. While the presentation was not special, the proof of the beef's taste was in the eating.


I have tried Kobe beef at Kobe, Hida beef at Hida and Ishigaki beef at Ishigaki. We get what we pay for - the texture and quality of the meat as well as the brand. Ishigaki beef is not that well-known outside Okinawa, thus the brand value per set is just a few dollars more!
