"Mother's Day"

On Mother's Day (May 8) 2016, I had the urge to compose a song to celebrate it. For my songs. my music and lyrics intertwine. The first thing I had to decide before composing was the language that I should use.

My mother tongue is Cantonese. My mother understands and speaks Cantonese only. So I wrote the song in Cantonese only.

When I am in the mood of creating, I could hear the melody and the lyrics. The time constraint energizes me further. I completed the composition, recording and production of the Cantonese music video: "Mother's Day" in the afternoon of Mother's Day 2016.

I did not have any published websites then. I only managed to share the song with a few friends via WhatsApp that day. And in hours, Mother's Day 2016 was gone.

And now is Mother's Day 2017. I have re-made a music video and published it on YouTube at peterC@STORIES. My "Mother's Day" features my mother and me when we both were very young...
