"Go Chengdu"

In December 2016, I was invited to take part in a Panda Forum in Chengdu in April 2017 to help promote tourism, creative and cultural industries under the Giant Panda brand. The hosts knew I composed and performed tri-lingual songs. I thought about composing a song or two for the occasion.

Around the same time, I read about a song writing technique ie to begin with the chorus first. And weeks later, I got a musical chorus that I liked. However, I was not able to come up with any musical verses that led up to the chorus from January to April 2017.

On April 18, 2017, I thought I had to put aside the musical chorus or I would have no new tri-lingual song for the occasion. I began afresh with the lyrics and music, firstly in Mandarin, then Cantonese, and then English. I spent the whole afternoon working on the tri-lingual song "Go Chengdu" and made it.

On April 19, 2o17, I recorded and published a refined version of "Go Chengdu". The simple, but raw and real, song contains deep messages. And as always, the goal of my songs is to showcase and evidence primal human creativity and culture!
